Fields of interest

Pat Heslop-Harrison works on genome evolution in plants and animals, with a focus on the largest and most rapidly evolving component of the genome, the repetitive DNA. His work has implications for phylogenetics and breeding, particularly the measurement and exploitation of biodiversity in crops and their wild relatives to increase the sustainability of agriculture and food production.

He is a Professor in Agricultural Genomics and Molecular Cytogenetics in the University of Leicester, UK, and has a position within the South China Botanical Garden (SCBG), Guangzhou, in the Plant Genome Evolution Group. His research involves multiple collaborations with Institutes, Universities and other organizations throughout the world. He is extensively involved in research evaluation and reviews for grant agencies, Universities, and science bodies.

He was a Handling Editor, and then Chief Editor of Annals of Botany from 2008 to 2020. He founded the Botany.One blog and social media presence of the Company's journals. Job description

Company Members oversee all aspects of the ownership, support and operation of the Company itself and of its five published titles Annals of Botany, AoB PLANTS, in silico Plants, BotanyOne, and The Week in Botany.
