Physiological and biometrical plant ecology, including plant growth analysis, screening of plant attributes of ecological and evolutionary significance, plant growth in relation to climate change variables, multivariate syntheses within the framework of plant strategy theory, properties of high-level biological systems, hierarchy theory, game theory and expert systems, cellular automata modelling of herbaceous vegetation processes, functional types in global vegetation. Professor Hunt is a former Editor and Chief Editor of Annals of Botany, and part of the organization since 1985. He was Company Secretary and Treasurer 1997-2025. Like all Company Members, he oversees all aspects of the ownership, support and operation of the Company itself and of its five published titles Annals of Botany, AoB PLANTS, in silico Plants, BotanyOne, and The Week in Botany.
