What we do

The Annals of Botany Company is an independent, not-for-profit organization that has been delivering public benefit for more than 135 years. The Company's surpluses are applied only to its mission and no payments are made to its Members or Directors for their services.

The Company supports and promotes the publication of original plant science, currently within the five media Annals of Botany, AoB PLANTS , in silico Plants, BotanyOne and The Week in Botany. The Company owns these five titles outright and is thus free to appoint its own Chief Editors, Editorial Office staff, Editorial Boards and reviewers. It also selects its journals' publisher(s).

The Company's journals cover all areas of plant science, including those applying molecular, analytical, mathematical and statistical techniques. The focus is upon topical questions at any level of biological organization, ranging from sub-atomic and molecular to community, from tissue culture to crop production, and from microclimate to ecosystem. The journals’ scope extends to all flowering and non-flowering taxa, and to taxonomic and evolutionary questions, particularly when these are addressed using molecular tools.
